What is Ring Macaroni?

by Mickey
(Gilbert, AZ)

Hi Matt,

Please can you tell me what Ring Macaroni is?

Thank you.

Answer:

Hi Mickey,

Yes indeed, it simply refers to really small 'ring' pasta shapes, which are a variation on the usual elbow-shaped macaroni.

Both of these types, officially in Italian at least, make up part of the 'ditali' family of tiny pasta shapes.

These types of shapes are great for including in hearty pasta soups like my selection here.

Hope that's helpful,

Matt.
