Do I cook lasagna sheets before the oven?

by James
(Calgary)

Are you supposed to cook the lasagna sheets before putting the layers in the baking dish?

Thanks.

Not unless they're fresh
by: Matt - Pasta Recipes Made Easy

Hi James,

Nope, there is no need to cook your lasagna sheets before popping it all in the oven. The usual cooking time of roughly 20 minutes will be plenty.

That is... unless you have made fresh pasta, in which case they need boiling up to 'al dente' firmness.

Do let me know how you get on with your big dish!

Ciao,

Matt

PS: And since you love lasagna, you might find my pasta cookbook of interest. It has a whole section of easy-to-print lasagna recipes inside and comes supplied with a free exclusive Lasagna 101 guide. Ciao!
