These vintage US food prints are bygones of a simpler age. If you love your diner-style eating, milkshakes, popcorn and burgers, you're bound to find a favorite here.
The first print below is seriously juicy n’ fruity. An old farm-style sign, it encourages you to grab a pint pot and fill it with berries. A real summery delight.
This is one of Art.com's most popular food pieces - a 50's-style print by Catherine Jones called Malt Shop II. How much does it make you want to slurp down this calorific summer drink? Mmm... plenty! It's also the quickest way to turn your kitchen into a diner :-)
Reminiscent of the days in which sandwiches were sold more simply, this next vintage food poster would make a fine addition to any kitchen, particularly one featuring a diner-style breakfast bar.
This old advert/postcard is perfect for choccie-lovin’ Hershey's fans. An old-school calorific treat to be sure.
Is there anything better than crunching down on some salt or caramel-covered popcorn as you enjoy your favorite film? This jolly American piece is perfect for TV rooms, home theatres and kitchens alike.
Get your morning glories (so to speak) with this renowned Golden Oats advertisement. You'll have energy all day after spying this beautiful piece on your wall in the morning!
This traditional Cadbury’s milk chocolate print is a delightful luxury buy. It’s not the cheapest food poster around due to its aged-looking finish (created using the Giclee print process and super-heavy paper), but it oozes old-school English charm and will bring a touch of class to any home.
These 'parfait' (perfect) food creations wouldn't look out of place in a French bistro or villa. If you crave 'pain, chocolat, fromage et vin', enjoy!
It doesn’t get much classier than this first spaghetti-mad ‘objet d’arte’ (‘des pates’ means pasta in French). Equally at home in a hallway as a kitchen, this luscious red Lenoetto Cappiello piece is simply glorious.
Warmly colored and presented in cartoon style, this grape-loving vintage poster is probably my favorite here and would make the perfect present for any French wine connoisseur. Rural and charming in equal measure.
This next bold blue print is actually a French advertisement for a brand of Italy’s best export – delectable, mouth-watering pasta – featuring the persuasive marketing line “un jour… toujours” (a day, everyday…).
Is there anything better than a baguette with chunky cheese? If you think not, then this ‘pain’ (bread) poster is for you. Use it to give your kitchen a friendly boulangerie feel.
One of two chocolate prints here (also see below), this old-fashioned kids’ party print is simply mouth-watering. Use Art.com’s wood-mounting option to really turn this into a piece of serious art.
This next cocoa creation by Kimberley Poloson is simply irresistible. If you love the slow melt of warm chocolate, then I think this French food poster is possibly the one for you.
This Normandy cheese poster is perfect for confirmed camambert munchers. Designed to look like a camambert pack, possibly sat on a checkered tabletop, this dairy delight conjurs up wonderful images of countryside eating.
This vintage food poster looks and feels like it should be in a food museum. Featuring a mouth-watering selection of French jams, conserves and pickles, it will make your stomach rumble in anticipatory delight!
The two pieces of food art are arguably the very classiest prints here, and the second includes a real dose of sniffy humor.
Created during the first half of the twentieth century, the Luciano Mauzan classic below is one of the truly great italian food posters. Charming, engaging and classically colored, it will suit any room in the house.
The second Luciano Mauzan piece here and my personal favorite, this ‘parmigiano’ (parmesan) advertisement is full of cheesy fun. It’s available - as with all the prints here - in various forms; framed, canvas-printed and more (just click the pic for prices etc).
This jovial vintage food poster below features a Spanish brand called Bolonial from Pamplona. In this advertisement the company is advertising its ‘Italian-style’ pasta, which won a gold medal back in 1926! Truly an old European treasure.
And finally... this Spanish hot chocolate print would make a considered luxury gift for any true Europhile. Available as a simple poster print or mounted in wood, it was created by Rafael de Penagos using something called the ‘Giclee’ printing process. This delivers a fine stream of archival ink on archival paper, resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail.
