Giuliano Hazan - Unique Italian Cooking Classes and Vacations
The winner of the 2007 Cooking Teacher of the Year, Giuliano Hazan offers unique Italian cooking classes at locations across the US, in addition to several Italian cooking school vacations each year at a beautiful Renaissance villa outside Verona, Italy.
Where do classes take place?
Giuliano's US Italian cooking classes take place across the States, as per on the schedule published on his website (see below).
For example, in March and April 2010 he held several intimate hands-on classes in his Sarasota home, as well as sessions in North Carolina, California and Oregon.
As for Giuliano's Italian cooking school vacations, these all take place at the spectacular Villa Giona, a Renaissance property set in 12 acres of private park and vineyards near romantic Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet.
Who teaches the classes?
Awarded the 2007 Cooking Teacher of the Year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), Giuliano Hazan is no less than an Italian cooking icon.
At the early age of 17, Giuliano began working as assistant at his mother’s renowned School of Classic Italian Cooking. He dedicated himself to mastering the simple, genuine flavors of Italian cuisine. Now, more than three decades later, Giuliano is an author, teacher, entrepreneur, and one of the foremost authorities on Italian cooking.
Giuliano began his writing career in 1993 with The Classic Pasta Cookbook, an international bestseller with 500,000 copies in print and now translated into 12 languages.
Lynne Rossetto Kasper, host of NPR's The Splendid Table, commented on this book, saying: "Giuliano Hazan takes pasta down to its simplest, most approachable forms without losing a jot of authenticity. Here's an example of an instinctive cook who has the talent to lead the complete rookie to success. This is the sign of a good teacher and author."
What types of dish and cooking techniques are covered?
Giuliano's unique Italian cooking classes cover a wide range of Italian dishes - everything from homemade pasta to risotto, meats, fish, vegetables, and desserts.
At his cooking vacations in Verona your hosts will be Giuliano and his wife Lael along with their partner Marilisa Allegrini of the famed Allegrini Winery in Valpolicella. Trips to Italy’s finest – and often hidden – food and wine producers, daily classes preparing traditional Italian meals, and dining at some of Italy’s best-loved restaurants will make your week nothing short of a total immersion in Italian food, wine, and indeed life.
