Substitute for red wine

by N

We do not drink wine.

Is there a substitute I can use for it?

It's not that important an ingredient.
by: Matt - Past Recipes Made Easy

Hi and thanks for your question,

In truth I don't know of a really suitable like-for-like substitute. However the recipe won't really be any worse without wine - it's not a key ingredient so your dish will simply taste slightly different rather than it making a huge difference.

I initially thought about suggesting grape juice, but as this is often quite sweet I don't think that's such good advice.

Which recipe in particular you were thinking of trying? If you let me know, maybe my pasta-expert Italian in-laws can suggest a better replacement...

:-)

Matt.
