Choosing Your Pot

The pasta pans above are all Amazon customer favorites and span everything from Rachel Ray's user-friendly 8 quart pot to Alessi and Zevro pans, an expensive Gordon Ramsey beast and many more.

However even if they're all great, you still have to choose one right? Here's what to consider when weighing up different models:

1. Think size. If you are just going to be cooking for a partner or yourself, the chances are you'll be wasting your cash buying a monster-sized 12 quart pot.

2. Stainless steel - or a mix of steel with cast iron insert - is the best quality material to go for (more on stainless steel here).

3. Eye for inserts - for real pasta obsessives, pans that include a pasta insert component are just wonderful. You simply boil up your pasta water, add the pasta in the insert to cook away, then when it's ready you pour out the water from underneath - leaving you with succulent pasta that's ready to eat... no colander/sieve or draining required!
