The Atlas 150 is a great aid in making fresh pasta. It's a heavy and sturdy machine that does have a feel of high quality.
I agree the thickness setting knob takes a wee bit getting use to but I have not had any problems with it. I have had the handle come out mid-roll but it only happens if you are rushing or the thickness of the pasta sheet is too great for the widest setting. I actually use the thickest setting as a final knead of the dough.
Pasta making really shouldn't be about "processing as if on a production line", therefore I would not recommend the motor for a home cook.
