Tuscan Women Cook - Italian Cooking Holidays in Sunny Tuscany

There are few better places to spend glorious Italian cooking holidays than in the hilltop village of Montefollonico under the beauty and warmth of the Tuscan sun.

At Tuscan Women Cook, you will not only enjoy learning authentic and delectable cooking techniques and recipes from local female chefs, but you’ll also treat yourself to a whole week of truly memorable Tuscan lifestyle experience.

Where do classes take place?

Italian cooking holidaysThe Italian cooking holidays Tuscan Women Cook offer are all held in the medieval Tuscan village of Montefollonico. Located just outside Montepulciano, the famous Tuscan wine town, it is one hour south of Florence and two hours north of Rome.

A luxurious six night’s accommodation is offered in an elegantly restored, four-star farmhouse and olive oil mill (now a hotel and restaurant) called La Chiusa. Hands-on cooking and demonstrations meanwhile take place at local country homes.

There will also be plenty of time to visit many local artisans in the historical village of Pienza, the local food market, one of the best trattorias in Florence and many more scrummy locations.

Who teaches the classes?

A group of exceptional local Tuscan women share their incredible techniques and recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Classes are provided with full translations into English.

Her cooking has been reviewed in many magazines before and The New York Times has described a meal prepared by Dania as “a voyage of rediscovery”.

Iolanda meanwhile has been a chef in La Chiusa for more than 27 years and is known to make the most delicious tiramisu around.

Other cooks who will share their skills with you include: Bruna, Francesca, Isa, Anna, Orietta, Navina, The Bernadini Family, Ima, and Simonetta. These women will also share their favorite fresh ingredients, many of which they grow organically in the gardens of their own homes.

What types of dish and cooking techniques are covered?

Every chef at Tuscan Women Cook teaches their own specialty, so for example Anna teaches fresh pasta making, Isa teaches melanzane parmigiano and so on).

Thanks to this approach, Italian cooking holidays with Tuscan Women Cook manage to span a huge range of Tuscan dishes, such as gnocchi, tagliatelli, pici, chicken alla contadina, stuffed zucchini flowers, aglione (garlic and tomato) sauce and tiramisu – to name just a few.
