Italian Cookbooks: Bruculinu, America: Remembrances of Sicilian-American Brooklyn, Told in Stories and Recipes

by Matt
(Pasta Recipes Made Easy)

This Brooklyn-inspired read is one very American Italian cookbook by a known actor who appeared in the film Ghost.

Best thought of as a 'memoir with recipes, Vincent Schiavelli's book is a charming and heart-warming read in which he tells stories of New York life, often as not featuring his grandfather (nonno) Papa Andrea, a Sicilian master chef.

On the food front, Bruculina spans hearty everyday dishes such as pasta with chickpeas, baked macaroni and seasonal feeds like log-shaped Christmas cookies.

If you are a fan of Sicily, a true-blue Brooklynite, or like your recipes wrapped in a warmly padded layer of Italian American life and thoughts, this evocative read is definitely one you should consider.
