Italian Cookbook: Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen

by Matt
(Pasta Recipes Made Easy)

Based on Lidia Matticchio Bastianich's PBS TV series, Lidia's Italian-American Cooking sets out to introduce you to the world of Italian food, cooked up in American style but with Italian style courses of antipasti, pasta and risottos, and dolci (literally 'sweets' or desserts).

In addition to some staple classics such as spaghetti and meatballs, you'll also find some real-deal interesting dishes. How about dandelion green salad with almond vinaigrette and dried ricotta? Or a Sunday pasta dinner with pork in the gravy?

Fans of Lidia's claim her directions are absolutely spot-on and almost impossible to mess up, which means beginner cooks should find her dishes possible.

Baked clams, lasagna, it's all here! Just don't expect her recipes to necessarily be all quick-hit 20-minute wonders. Just like real Italian cooking, you'll often need to take your time and do it slow.
