Does Paoli still exist?

by Leyla
(France)

Imagine a meal so utterly delicious that 40 years later, it still makes my mouth water.

I was a child, in Florence with my parents. The restaurant was called Paoli or Da Paoli (I even remember the name!) and was downstairs. I remember a cavern-like atmosphere, possibly a stone dome, or an old wine cellar.

And then, lasagna. And every lasagna since has been measured against this early experience, never matched.

I've only been back to Florence once since then, and unfortunately was unable to go looking for the restaurant. Writing this though... I'm beginning to think that perhaps it's time for another visit.

Was it this?
by: Matt - Pasta Recipes Made Easy

Yup, that's the kind of foodie memory I'm talking about ;-)

I've done a bit of Googling, so could it possibly have been this place?

If you go back, let us know if it still rocked eh? And if so, please grab me a doggy bag!

Matt.
