Crossword Poser: ribbon-like strip of pasta?
by Jody Meredith

This is for a crossword. So far I have got ??o?l?.
The clue asks for a 'ribbon-like strip of pasta'.
Answer: Okay, I'm fundamentally rubbish at crosswords, so the idea of being able to help solve even one answer is very appealing (as it never usually happens!).
However, erm... there are 3 ribbon-like pasta types that spring to mind, but I'm afraid letter-wise they don't fit here: pappardelle, fettucinne and best of all, tagliarini (literally, 'ribbon pasta').
In fact the only 6-letter pasta type I know of (and by I, I mean 'me and a quick Google search), is trofie. But this is more a twisted strand than a ribbon.
I don't suppose your o or I could be wrong?
In case I missed anything, here are my 3 key sources:
1 - my 'types of pasta' page
2 - Wikipedia's equivalent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pasta#Ribbon-cut_noodles
3 - Ribbon pasta page by Cook's Thesaurus: http://sonic.net/~alden/PastaRibbons.html
Please do let me know how you get on. I'm frustrated I couldn't just whiz you back the correct answer first-time!
;-)
Matt.
