"Centro Italia" Italian restaurant, Wiesbaden, Germany

by Irina
(Lausanne, Switzerland)

By far our favourite place is trattoria Centro Italia in Wiesbaden, Germany.

This is a family-run restaurant quite near the city centre. The place is not very big and hidden but very well known to locals. In fact many consider it the best Italian place in the region. In winter you will hardly get a table at the weekend day unless you reserve well in advance!

The atmosphere is simple and very warm, the service is friendly and the food - certamente! (certainly) - delicious.

They serve various types of home-made pasta, fish and meat, antipasti, and other Southern Italian yummi stuff, however you will find no pizza there.

My favourite pasta dish at Centro Italia? Panzerotti with spinach and riccotta swimming in tomato-cream sauce. Mmmmmmmmmhhhhh.....

After a great meal there is usually also a round of limoncello. And your evening is perfect!

ENJOY!

Lasagna Dish Quiz
by: John Hampton

I ate at an Italian restaurant in Weisbaden back in 1960. It served a personal lasagna dish that was the best I've ever had.

It was served as an individual baked dish, (not cut out of a larger dish). I ate there several times but don't remember the name but it was a small place in downtown Weisbaden.

My question is: was there some special ingredient or was it the baking procedure, temperature, time, etc. The top was somewhat crusty, but not burnt and was not real soupy with sauce.

Is Centro Italia the same place? If so could I get the recipe/info?

Thanks.
