Calzones Italian restaurant in San Francisco, USA

On a recent trip to San Francisco, we discovered the BEST calzones (folded pizzas) in the universe at an appropriately-named restaurant in San Fran's Little Italy district - "Calzones"!

With a wood fired oven that the waiting staff told us was imported from Italy, the calzones were literally to die for. The crust was light and crispy with that wood fire flavor and filled with any number of mouth watering options.

I, of course, chose the spinach, ricotta, and Italian cold cuts calzone, while my husband selected the chicken parmesan. Both were simply amazing.

The restaurant has lovely side-walk cafe seating as well, with vintage Italian tile tables. The interior is spacious, comfortable and has an elegant flare to the decorating.

The prices were quite reasonable, especially if you go for a late lunch; which my husband and I fondly refer to as "dunch" since it saves us money by not needing to go out to dinner. That way you can sample the delicious pastries and desserts in the evening, along with toe curling expresso! :-)
